Arranging home physiotherapy for a relative

If someone you care for is finding everyday movement harder, it can be difficult to know what help to arrange. We offer physiotherapy in their own Isle of Wight home, shaped around their ability and what matters to them. You can make the first enquiry, whether you live nearby or elsewhere.

Could home
physiotherapy help?

You might have noticed a gradual change, or be looking for support after a hospital stay or operation. Your relative may be finding familiar things harder: getting up from their usual chair, using the stairs or walking to the garden.

You don’t need to choose a treatment before you get in touch. Tell us what has changed and what they’d like to do more easily.

Physiotherapy focuses on movement and everyday function. Someone may also need medical advice, personal care or other support. In the first conversation, we’ll discuss whether a home physiotherapy assessment is the right next step.

How do we
arrange a visit?

  1. Start with a free conversation

Message us on WhatsApp, email us or use the form below. A line or two about what has become harder and what your relative would like help with is enough to start. You can enquire from off the Island; the person receiving the home visit needs to be on the Isle of Wight.

We’ll talk about suitability and current availability. Sending a message doesn’t book an appointment.

  2. Agree an assessment at home

If a visit is appropriate, we agree the arrangements with the person receiving care. At the assessment, we talk about their health, everyday movement and goals, then look at how they manage in their own surroundings. Their usual chair, stairs or existing equipment may be part of that assessment.

The £80 initial assessment includes a personalised exercise and rehabilitation plan. Your relative helps decide what to work towards.

  3. Review what is useful next

Follow-up visits cost £70 and review progress and the exercise plan. The number and frequency of visits depend on the assessment, the person’s goals and how they respond. We talk through further appointments with them.

Progress is individual. The aim may be to regain an activity, maintain movement or find a more manageable way to do something day to day.

How can family and carers stay involved?

You can help arrange the visit. Your relative stays involved in decisions about their care. We start with what matters to them and how they would like you involved.

With their agreement, a relative or carer can join the conversation and talk through how to support the plan between visits. We share updates with their consent. Tell us if you live elsewhere so we can discuss practical arrangements together.

If the person is unsure about physiotherapy, you can make an initial enquiry to understand the service. There is no obligation to arrange a visit. Give them time to ask questions and decide whether they want to take the next step.

Questions before you enquire

Still have a question?
Ask us by email.

Can I enquire if I don’t live on the Island?

Yes. You can make the first enquiry from elsewhere, as long as the home visit is for someone on the Isle of Wight. Let us know where you are and how your relative would like you involved. We’ll discuss the practical arrangements together.

Can I be there for the assessment?

Your relative can ask for you or a carer to be there. Mention this when discussing the visit. Their wishes guide how you take part, and any information shared with you depends on their consent.

What if they already have NHS or other support?

Tell us what support they already receive and whether they have discharge advice or instructions from a surgical team. This helps us discuss how a private physiotherapy assessment might fit. Vectis Home Physio is a private service; these visits are separate from NHS care.

How soon could a visit happen?

Contact us to ask about current availability. We confirm a visit after we’ve talked through suitability and arrangements. An enquiry doesn’t reserve an appointment.
