Qualifications & training
- MSc Physiotherapy
- Master’s degree in physiotherapy
- Sport, Exercise and Coaching
- Degree completed before his physiotherapy training
During his physiotherapy training, Jacob gained experience in community teams, falls services, acute hospital wards, GP practices and private clinics. Seeing people in these different settings helped him understand how someone’s surroundings can affect their rehabilitation.
Hospital & community experience
Since qualifying, Jacob has worked in an NHS rotational post, gaining experience across orthopaedics, trauma, acute medicine and community rehabilitation. That work has involved both hospital care and supporting people as they recover in the community.
He continues to work in the NHS alongside running Vectis Home Physio. His NHS experience has shaped his approach to thorough assessment, evidence-based treatment and planning rehabilitation around the individual.
Jacob has a particular interest in the period after a hospital stay or an operation, when people are finding their feet again and working towards the everyday activities that matter to them.
Vectis Home Physio is a private service, separate from Jacob’s NHS work.
Care shaped around your home
At home, Jacob can see how you manage the stairs, get out of your own chair or move around the kitchen. Your surroundings are part of the assessment, so the advice and exercises can relate to the things you actually do each day.
He starts by asking what you would like to manage more easily. Together, you agree what to work on, taking account of your ability, confidence and the activities you value. The aim might be to regain movement after illness or surgery, feel steadier, or maintain the mobility you have.
Your exercise and rehabilitation plan is included with the initial assessment. At follow-up visits, you review how things are going and adjust the plan together.
